CHARGING HOUSES

New storage solutions are needed to make efficient use of renewable energies. Felix Kiefl thinks he has found a sustainable alternative to previous battery types with Voltstorage.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, global power consumption has almost doubled in the last 20 years. And according to data from the International Energy Association, almost 80% of the world’s energy comes from coal, oil and gas. These fossil energy sources are expected to replace renewable energies such as photovoltaics in the future. The potential is huge: According to the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, the sun supplies the earth with as much energy in one hour as mankind consumes in one year. However, the sun only shines during the day. Although we store the energy from photovoltaic systems in the batteries of cars, computers and smartphones, electricity storage systems on a larger scale are not yet widespread. However, if the number of photovoltaic systems increases, the potential of electricity storage systems also increases – and this is precisely where Voltstorage founder and Forbes Under 30 2018 sees a huge opportunity for the DACH region for Felix Kiefl and his team.
