Josh co-founded Lux Capital to support scientists and entrepreneurs who pursue counter- conventional solutions to the most vexing puzzles of our time in order to lead us into a brighter future. He is a Director at CTRL-Labs (brain machine interface), Shapeways (3D printing) and 3Scan (digital pathology). Josh runs also Aira (augmented reality for blind and visually-impaired), Variant (ﬁnding genetically rare individuals globally) and Kallyope (gut-brain axis).
He is a founding investor and board member with Bill Gates in Kymeta, making cutting-edge antennas for high-speed global satellite and space communications. Josh co-founded and funded Kurion, using advanced robotics and state-of-the-art engineering and chemistry to clean up nuclear waste. Wolfe has been a columnist with Forbes and he was invited to The White House and Capitol Hill to advise on nanotechnology and emerging technologies. Josh has been also a lecturer at MIT, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia and NYU.
Stefano Buono is an accomplished physicist and alumnus of CERN. Until January 2018, Mr. Buono served as Chief Executive Ofﬁcer and board member of Advanced Accelerator Applications (AAA). This was an international radiopharmaceutical company that he founded in 2002, until it was acquired by Novartis for $3.9 billion. Stefano is also a director of Abeona Therapeutics, a Nasdaq Listed biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel gene and cell therapy approaches for potential treatment of individuals impacted by life-threatening genetic rare diseases.
Moreover, Mr. Buono is the Chairman of Planet Holding LTD which is currently building in Brazil the ﬁrst two Smart City for Affordable Housing in the world. He is also Chairman of LIFTT, whose goal is to stimulate and support technology transfer from research institutions. Finally Mr. Buono is the founder of Elysia Capital focused on social impact investments in the ﬁeld of sustainable Innovation, Education, Arts and Culture.
Bjorn Tremmerie is Head of the ICT and Business Angel Investments division at the European Investment Fund (EIF). He leads the EUR 3.2bn ERP-EIF Dachfonds programme that EIF is implementing on behalf of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, an initiative dedicated to the German VC market. He also oversees the European Angel Fund co-investment programme, the Dutch Venture Initiative fund-of-funds where he is an investment committee member, and the LfA-EIF Facility, a EUR 150m fund-of-funds for the Bavarian region. His team invests and monitors investments in venture capital funds in Europe as well as manages co-investments alongside business angels. Their portfolio includes some 150 European VC funds. Before joining EIF, Bjorn worked for a globally active VC fund. He started his career at ING in investment banking.
